We all know that these days most companies use applicant tracking systems to help with the recruiting process.
While most companies have systems that can reach thousands of candidates and find that perfect employee, many recruiters and beginning to think this is an outdated way of recruiting. Recruiting efficiency usually comes from applicant management software that promotes teamwork and collaboration from hiring managers and recruiters.
So how can companies make applicant tracking systems better? Here are a few suggestions from Darwin Redshield at Articlebase.
First, companies should rethink critical features. Instead of only focusing on customization and integraztion, software should focus on capability, rapidity and fluidity. This will make the hiring process easier and more efficient.
Second, rethink the problem. The conventional purpose of recruiting software is to solve hiring problems by finding more candidates. However, having millions of candidates doesn’t necessarily mean you’ll find someone to hire. What will help you find a good candidate is teamwork, collaboration, engaged hiring managers and efficient recruiters.
Third, rethink the immediate benefits. While many of the recruiting software out there today has features designed ot meet a variety of needs, most have had little impact on improving the actual process of filling a position. When considering what software to purchase, focus on finding a system that enables all users to hire people better, easier, faster and smarter.
Fourth, rethink rocket science. The hiring process usually boils down to one decision, yes or no. That means you don’t need an applicant tracking system that is over complicated and too hard to use.
Finally, rethink implementation and training. Because the act of hiring is usually not the main focus of any one employee, software providers should focus on creating a system that is simple to choose, use and execute.
