A start-up Biopharmaceutical company is preparing to launch a first-in-class drug in the pulmonary market and is building out their commercial team. This dynamic organization discovers and develops unique, small molecule therapies that feature multi-site binding properties and target only diseased tissues, reducing risk for side effects. With one product already commercialized, and another to launch within the next 12 months, they have doubled in size over the past three years. Although it’s still a relatively small marketing group, this is a dynamic, exciting work environment and their teams have unusually strong personal chemistry. If you’re looking for a strategic marketing challenge in an organization that is building a strong foundation for the future, this could be the opportunity for you.

Responsibilities:

The Director of Market Research will build and lead the primary and secondary market research programs, data analytics and competitive intelligence for a franchise of products used in pulmonary disease, inflammation and immunology. You will work closely with marketing brand teams to identify barriers to adoption and develop product launch strategies and lifecycle management plans, serving as a Center of Excellence for the delivery of business analysis and decision support. Duties include leading primary research projects to inform product positioning, promotions, and pricing, as well as secondary data analytics and scenario planning. You will design and construct market research projects, manage budgets and vendors, and present and defend recommendations.

The small size of the commercial organization means this is a broadly defined role where you will “wear many hats.” In this high profile assignment you will work closely with counterparts in clinical development, medical affairs, finance and sales to develop effective long-term strategic plans for commercialized products as well as those in development. Working in a matrix structure, you will collaborate with cross-functional team members and exercise influence without authority. The small company environment means we need someone who is strong technically as well as strategically, and who is willing to “roll up their sleeves” and execute programs. This is a high visibility role with significant opportunity for career development and advancement. Overnight travel is estimated at 25%.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have the following background:
• 7+ years of market research and analytics experience in the Biotech or Pharmaceutical industry, including experience in the Hospital market
• Experience leading qualitative and quantitative primary market research projects including tracking studies, message testing and product positioning
• Evidence of successful product launch experience
• Bachelor’s degree or better is required; advanced degree in a related discipline is strongly preferred

An attractive compensation package for this position includes a competitive base salary, an annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and an expanded equity package in the form of restricted stock units.

This position will be based in the San Francisco Bay area; financial assistance is available for relocation support.

This is an opportunity to leverage your technical experience and relationships for something more than a simple paycheck.
