Innovative technology. Positive corporate culture.

A high-growth Biotech organization in the genomics market is expanding rapidly and adding new positions in sales, sales support and marketing, working in Next Gen Sequencing and Whole Genome Mapping. As genetics and genomics become more applied, and as costs decrease, the level of data being generated now outpaces the rate of innovation for managing that data. It is data management, from the point of discovery through translation into phenotypically relevant information, that represents one of the biggest challenges for the Biotech industry. Our client provides leading-edge Bioinformatics software to original equipment manufacturers of instrumentation used in genomics research. They need an Applications Specialist to work closely with internal R&D teams to guide product development decisions, and with sales reps and customers to train them on how to maximize the utility of the software. If you are looking for a high-profile assignment in a fast paced, dynamic organization this could be the opportunity for you.

The Opportunity:

The Applications Specialist will help develop and execute the market development strategy for the organization, and provide technical sales support to customers with a drive toward meeting customer’s needs and achieving sales goals. You will monitor trends in the DNA sequencing and genome mapping market and represent the Voice of the Customer in the internal product development process, helping identify user requirements and design specifications. The Specialist will also as a liaison between the software development team and the sales / marketing organization, assisting with marketing collateral, pre and post-sales support, training and technical seminars. You will have direct engagement in the sales process and participate in scientific conferences and industry trade shows.

Other duties of this position include developing and reviewing product data sheets and technical literature for distribution to internal personnel and external customers of Bioinformatics software. You will also review technical information used in advertising, proof statements and journal publications. The role will require frequent presentations to internal and external stakeholders, and you will assist in resolving technical product line issues and problems. This is a broadly defined assignment where you will interact with senior management on a routine basis; significant opportunities exist for career development and advancement. Domestic and international travel is estimated at 25%.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in human genome Bioinformatics analysis, either in an application support or product development role
  • Experience defining new product specifications and working with R&D to ensure development of products based on customer requirements
  • Experience with either qPCR, Next Gen Sequencing, or Whole Genome Mapping strongly preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in the Biological Sciences, Genetics or related field; advanced degree preferred
